The Sea of Stars located on Vaadhoo Island in the Maldives is one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen.

The ‘Stars’ inside the water appear at night and they glow bright blue down the entire coastline.

The Stars are Bioluminescent phytoplankton (Plankton that gives off light) when they are stressed.

So how do the little Plankton get stressed? They don’t have a mortgage, a job or bills to pay but instead, they get stressed because of the waves taking them to shore whilst they are in the water so they give off light to warn the other plankton that it is not safe, creating this beautiful image down the coastline of the South Asian Island.
